Austin Opera AR
The Austin Opera contracted SubVRsive to create an AR application for their staging of the hit opera, Everest. The application provides users with a digital version of the playbill as well as an AR-enabled video experience that sets the stage for the opera to come. The video displays a rendering of Everest overlaid with VFX and graphics to identify where our characters are on the mountain and to demonstrate the disastrous effects of overcrowding on the mountain, culminating in the 1996 disaster that the opera re-enacts.
In my role was Contract Senior Producer I managed the internal asset production teams at SubVRsive, who handled all of the visual asset production and QA services, and the development team at UnityUK. I also managed publishing and metadata insertion on both iOS and Android platforms. This was my first project that required a merger between the digital and physical worlds- The app was primarily distributed via a QR code printed on the actual program handed out to opera patrons. Making sure we had accurate URLs and creative approval in time for the print deadline was a new challenge in a world usually defined by the speed of electricity! |
